The Beverly Hills Police Department has 12 open sexual assault cases involving the entertainment industry, the department told ABC News on Wednesday.

BHPD previously confirmed that the department was investigating potential crimes allegedly committed by producer Harvey Weinstein and director James Toback, and those would be included in the 12.

Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex, and Toback said the allegations of sexual misconduct made against him were impossible due to his medical conditions.

Aside from that, the department would not specify suspect names or give other details about the cases.

If there is evidence of a crime, it will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's task force for filing consideration, a BHPD public information officer said.

On Saturday, a high-level source with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to ABC News that the department has 22 active sex assault cases involving the entertainment industry. The LAPD has also taken 28 "courtesy reports" of alleged incidents that happened outside of the department's jurisdiction and sent them to the appropriate police departments, the source added.
