'Ghosted' Replaces Showrunners, Adds 6 Episodes

The 'Office' alum Paul Lieberstein will replace Kevin Etten, who oversaw the Adam Scott-Craig Robinson starrer's first 10 episodes.

Fox is reinvesting in Ghosted.

The network has swapped out showrunners and added an additional six episodes to the order for the freshman series starring Adam Scott and Craig Robinson.

Out is Kevin Etten, who oversaw the first 10 episodes of the paranormal comedy. He is being replaced by The Office grad Paul Lieberstein, who will serve as showrunner on the newly ordered six episodes.

Created by Tom Gormican, Ghosted was a contender throughout development season as it came packaged with marketable stars in Scott and Robinson. The showrunner change serves as a reunion for Lieberstein and Robinson, who both co-starred on NBC's The Office, where the former also served as an executive producer.

Ghosted ranks as the No. 2 new comedy of the 2017-18 broadcast season. The series averages a 1.1 among the all-important adults 18-49 demographic and 2.8 million total viewers — both before DVR returns.

Of Fox's freshman class, only X-Men drama The Gifted has not received an additional episode order as the series — like The Orville — was always intended to be a short-run project. The Orville, meanwhile, was renewed for a second season.

On the midseason front, Fox still has the final season of New Girl awaiting scheduling and will bow The X-Files, 911, LA to Vegas and The Resident in January. All of those shows, like Ghosted and The Orville, are produced in-house at 20th Century Fox Television.
