LSE boss quits after ‘unwelcome publicity’

The chief executive of the owner of the London Stock Exchange, Xavier Rolet, is stepping down with immediate effect after a boardroom crisis over his future.

Mr Rolet had been due to leave by the end of next year but his departure has now been brought forward following a wrangle between the board and an activist investor that objected to the plans.
