Kevin Williamson Fairy-Tale Thriller Lands CBS All Access Series Order
'Tell Me a Story' will weave 'The Three Little Pigs,' 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk' together.
CBS All Access is getting into the horror business with Kevin Williamson.
The Scream mastermind and Dawson's Creek creator has landed a straight-to-series order for fairy-tale horror thriller Tell Me a Story. An episode count and premiere date has not yet been determined.
The drama, based on a format from Marcos Osorio Vidal, Gustavo Malajovich and Hernan Goldfrid that aired on Spanish TV network Antena tres, takes some of the most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller. Set in modern-day New York, the first season will weave stories from The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk into a tale of love, loss, greed, revenge and murder.
Williamson will pen the script and exec produce the CBS Television Studios drama alongside Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor.
Tell Me a Story, which landed at CBS All Access in a competitive situation with multiple outlets bidding, marks Williamson's first show outside his longtime home at Warner Bros. Television. At the independent studio, Williamson was behind The CW's The Vampire Diaries,ABC's short-lived H.G. Wells adventure drama Time After Time,CBS' Stalker and Fox's The Following.
Tell Me a Story joins a roster of scripted originals at CBS All Access that also includes The Twilight Zone, Star Trek: Discovery, $1, Strange Angel, The Good Fight and comedy No Activity.
