Going against the State of the Union address in its second hour, the new project doesn't even crack 200,000 viewers.

Post-premiere views are becoming more and more important to TV series, but Rose McGowan's new project is going to need a big boost to overcome its first-night failings.

E! documentary series Citizen Rose opened to a paltry 188,000 viewers on Tuesday night. The two-hour special, more of a feature than episodic television, also didn't crack the 0.1 mark among adults 18-49.

Working against the series was the fact that the rest of the dial was overwhelmingly devoted to coverage of President Donald Trump's State of the Union address. There was the slight chance that it could have perked up as counter-programming, but that was not to be.

It's an unfortunate start for the project, which E! has aggressively touted since the top of 2018, but at least the episode has several months to find more viewers before the series begins in earnest. Four additional episodes are set to air in the spring.
One silver lining is that the critics who have reviewed the show have praised it. The Hollywood Reporter called it "image rehab that's well-earned."
