Was Trump behind 2014 effort to foil Bon Jovi's NFL bid?

Was Donald Trump the secret force behind the seemingly grassroots 2014 campaign to block Jon Bon Jovi from buying the NFL's Buffalo Bills?

That's what organizers are saying now, three years after the billionaire and the rocker were competing to buy the Bills.

Buffalo PR consultant Michael Caputo says Trump asked him to launch a fan campaign called 12th Man Thunder that organized a petition drive to keep the team in Buffalo and fanned existing speculation that Bon Jovi intended to move the team to Canada.

Trump's company did not comment on the claim, which was reported last month by GQ magazine.

In the end, neither Trump nor Bon Jovi got the team. It instead went to Buffalo Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula.

The wife of the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs says the couple's 14-year-old daughter was among those killed in a mass shooting at the church.

Sherri Pomeroy, wife of Pastor Frank Pomeroy, said in a text message that she lost her daughter "and many friends" in the Sunday shooting. The text came in response to an interview request sent by The Associated Press to a phone number linked in online records to Frank Pomeroy.

Sherri Pomeroy says both she and her husband were out of town and trying to get back to Sutherland Springs, outside of San Antonio.

A law enforcement official says more than 20 people have been killed in a shooting at a church in a small town outside San Antonio.

The official, who was briefed on the investigation, says the gunman fled the church in a vehicle after the shooting and was also killed, either by a self-inflicted wound or during a confrontation with police. The official was not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The official says between 10 to 15 people were also injured but stressed the investigation was early and the figures could change. Authorities are still trying to determine a motive.

Federal law enforcement swarmed the scene to offer assistance, including ATF investigators and members of the FBI's evidence collection team.

One hospital about 10 miles from the shooting says there "multiple" victims with gunshot wounds are being treated.

Connally Memorial Medical Center spokeswoman Megan Posey declined to say how many patients were being treated at the hospital, but said the number was less than a dozen. The hospital is in Floresville, Texas.

Former DNC Chair Donna Brazile has message for those who want her to ‘shut up’

Donna Brazile has message for those who want her to 'shut up'

WATCH One-on-one with former DNC chair Donna Brazile

Former Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile has a message for those who want her to "shut up" about her time leading her party during the 2016 election.

“For those who are telling me to shut up, they told Hillary that a couple of months ago" when Clinton published her book on the election, Brazile told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive interview on "This Week" Sunday.

"You know what I tell them, ‘Go to hell.’ I’m going to tell my story," Brazile said, ahead of the release of her new book on the 2016 election, “Hacks: The Inside Story Of The Break-Ins And Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump In The White House.”

Brazile also addressed the revelation in her book that she considered replacing Clinton as the presidential nominee after she collapsed at a 9/11 memorial ceremony on Sept. 11, 2016, in New York City, less than two months before Election Day.

The then-chair of the DNC said she weighed replacing Clinton with Joe Biden, who was at the time vice president.

Brazile said she was “under tremendous pressure” to have a backup plan ready in case it became necessary for Clinton to drop out of the presidential race because of her health.

“I didn’t want to have a plan B. Plan A was great for me," the former Democratic chair said. "I supported Hillary and I wanted her to win, but we were under pressure.”

As DNC chair, Brazile did not have the power to replace the nominee on her own, but she could have initiated the process.

Brazile had taken over as chair of the DNC during the Democratic National Convention in July 2016, following the resignation of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., amid fallout from WikiLeaks emails that appeared to show favoritism by DNC officials toward Clinton over her primary opponent Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Brazile said she considered “a lot of other combinations” for a possible ticket and thought Biden running with Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., would be the best option.

She declined to say whether she thinks a Biden-Booker ticket could have won the general election against Republican Donald Trump.

“This is something you play out in your mind,” Brazile told Stephanopoulos on "This Week." “The bottom line is [Clinton] resumed campaigning. I went on TV to say that the campaign was back on track.”

Donna Brazile's bombshell tell-all could inspire DNC reforms Sanders campaign document reveals fundraising relationship with DNC

Top Clinton staffers wrote an open letter responding to Brazile, saying they were “shocked” to learn the former DNC chair considered replacing Clinton.

“It is particularly troubling and puzzling that [Brazile] would seemingly buy into false Russian-fueled propaganda, spread by both the Russians and our opponent, about our candidate’s health,” former Hillary for America staffers wrote in the letter published Saturday night.

Stephanopoulos said some "passionate Democrats" feel betrayed by Brazile's account. "Any regrets?" he asked.

"Do I regret taking on a job the second time in my life as chair of the party, cleaning up everyone's mess, taking all of the incoming, being unable to spend funds that I raised?" Brazile said. "Do I regret being … hacked by the Russians?"

It "was worse than Hurricane Katrina in terms of the emotional toll," the Louisiana native added. “As somebody who went through the hacking experience, being able to tell the truth about what happened with the Russians, the attack on our government, do I regret any of that? No, I wish I could have done more."

Reports: Queen Elizabeth has investments in offshore havens

Reports: Queen Elizabeth has investments in offshore havens

        The Associated Press
FILE – In this Thursday, June 22, 2017 file photo, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II waves to the crowd as she arrives by open carriage into the parade ring on the third day of the Royal Ascot horse race meeting, which is traditionally known as Ladies Day, in Ascot, England. Newly leaked papers have revealed that Queen Elizabeth II has placed some of her private money into offshore tax havens. According to records obtained by the International Consortium of Journalists, the queen’s investment managers have placed roughly 10 million pounds ($13 million) in offshore portfolios in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. (AP Photo/Alastair Grant, File)

Newly leaked papers revealed Sunday that Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has invested some of her private money in offshore tax havens.

According to documents obtained by the International Consortium of Journalists, the queen's investment managers placed roughly 10 million pounds ($13 million) in offshore portfolios in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda.

The investments were made in 2004 and 2005 by the Duchy of Lancaster, the queen's private financial manager.

The Duchy of Lancaster, which holds assets for the British monarch to generate income for her, confirmed in a statement that some of its investments are in overseas accounts. It said that all its investments were legitimate.

"We operate a number of investments and a few of these are with overseas funds. All of our investments are fully audited and legitimate," it said.

The documents showed that the queen has roughly 3200 pounds invested in BrightHouse, a household goods and electronics retailer that has been accused of exploiting customers by charging high interest rates.

Her use of offshore tax havens is likely to generate criticism from activists seeking to abolish the monarchy in favor of a republic.

The queen pays taxes on the income generated by her holdings in the Duchy of Lancaster. She has vast financial assets, including luxury real estate, valuable artwork and jewelry. She is also the legal owner of many of the swans on the River Thames.

The documents about Elizabeth's financial holdings are part of a tranche of some 13.4 million records of offshore accounts leaked to German newspaper S?ddeutsche Zeitung and shared with the International Consortium of Journalists and a network of more than 380 journalists in 67 countries.

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said the widespread use of offshore havens by wealthy individuals in dozens of countries proves "there's one rule for the super-rich and another for the rest when it comes to paying tax."

Family and friends have joined a march of some 10,000 people through a French town in response to the murder of a local woman who vanished last weekend.

The burnt body of Alexia Daval, 29, who disappeared while jogging, was found in woodland near Gray, a town in the north-eastern region of Haute-Saone.

An autopsy has found she was strangled. No arrests have been made and her attacker's identity remains unknown.

Women have honoured her with symbolic runs in cities across France.

In Gray, a quiet town of 5,000 residents, people marched in silence on Sunday and listened to speeches by her grieving husband Jonathan Daval and other family members.

Mrs Daval, a bank worker, went out for a run on Saturday 28 October. After not hearing from her for several hours, her husband called the police.

Her body was eventually found covered in foliage in a wood far from her normal jogging route.

A source close to the investigation told AFP news agency there were no preliminary indications she had been raped.

Addressing the rally in Gray, Mrs Daval's mother, Isabelle Fouillot, paid tribute to the women and men who had gone out running to commemorate her daughter and other victims of violence against women.

"With these sporting gestures, you are making Alexia into a strong symbol, one of the freedom for all women to enjoy running and to live," she said through her tears.

Ryan says health insurance mandate part of GOP tax talks

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Republicans are discussing whether their tax plan should include a repeal of the Obama health law's requirement that people have insurance coverage or face a penalty, a step pushed by President Donald Trump but seen by some GOP lawmakers as possibly imperiling a much-needed legislative victory.

It would be another shot at further undermining the Affordable Care Act after repeated failures by the GOP-led Congress to repeal and replace the law, as Trump has demanded and Republicans promised would happen after President Barack Obama left office and Republicans ran Washington.

The House Ways and Means Committee was set to begin work on the tax rewrite Monday, with the goal of full House consideration next week. The committee chairman, Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, has said including a repeal of the health law's individual mandate would be politically risky, given that the Senate has failed to pass health legislation in Trump's first year.

Ryan, R-Wis., told "Fox News Sunday" that "a lot of members are suggesting" that the House include the repeal, though he did not weigh in personally on how to deal with the coverage mandate.

Equally as evasive was the second-ranking House GOP leader: "Well, I know people are talking about it," Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said on CBS'" Face the Nation." He added: "Look, my focus is on tax. As the individual mandate goes, I would not be opposed to that. But I want to see this bill go forward."

The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that repealing the individual mandate would save $416 billion over a decade. The mandate provides a powerful incentive for people to get coverage before health problems arise. But the money represents a tempting revenue source for GOP tax-writers whose tax plan would add an estimated $1.5 trillion over 10 years to the national debt.

Rep. Mark Meadows, the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, told ABC's "This Week" that revenue counted through the repeal could in turn be used to soften the blow from the expiration of various tax credits and elimination of the deduction for state income and sales taxes.

"We're advocating on behalf of that," said Meadows, R-N.C.

Trump tweeted last week: "Wouldn't it be great to Repeal the very unfair and unpopular Individual Mandate in ObamaCare and use those savings for further Tax Cuts for the Middle Class." And Brady said Friday that the president had spoken to him twice by phone and once in person, making the case for scraping the mandate.

"There are pros and cons to this. Importing health care into a tax reform debate does have consequences," Brady said last week.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., said on ABC that "we should confine this to tax cuts and tax reform."

Some Republican lawmakers from New York and New Jersey have come out against the bill in its current form, saying that ending deductions for state and local sales and income taxes would hit their constituents the hardest.

Republicans talking up the tax bill on the Sunday shows played down concerns that the bill would add substantially to the nation's debt.

"Preliminary numbers really look very good in terms of economic growth. So, over a longer period of time, some 10 to 15 years, we believe that the economic growth will outweigh any short-term deficit increase that we see," Meadows said.

"These so-called budget hawks have turned into an extinct, endangered species," said House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California during an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union."

In examining the GOP's tax bill, Congress's Joint Committee on Taxation projected that the expiration of certain tax breaks would result in tax increases for some income groups in some years.

An analysis from the liberal Center on Budget and Policy Priorities said the committee's projections showed the tax cuts would overwhelmingly benefit the wealthiest households. Meanwhile, the joint committee's analysis indicated that tax filers with incomes between $20,000 and $40,000 would pay higher individual income taxes in 2023 and each year thereafter, as would filers with incomes between $200,000 and $500,000.

McCarthy said Senate rules did not allow the House to make certain tax cuts permanent, "but I will promise you this: As the growth comes in, those will be kept," McCarthy said.

5 Signs Someone You Love is Treating You Poorly (And How To Stop It)

            22406181_10154933346592371_6627393231572494482_n

“Sometimes we spend more efforts with people that are strangers in terms of making an impression than the person that’s closest to us. And you just gotta remember not to take for granted that person that’s closest to you.” – Michael Douglas

No one wants to think that their partner is treating them poorly. Sometimes, when we’re being treated like crap, we don’t even notice until it’s far too late. However, the people around us often do notice what’s going on. You may find that your friends and family have tried to discuss this exact issue with you. It’s a hard thing to come to terms with.

There are definite signs that we can keep an eye out for when someone we love is treating us poorly. By recognizing the signs, you’ll be able to make the bad treatment stop, or find a way to get out of that relationship entirely. No one deserves to be treated with anything less than complete respect and love when it comes to their relationships.

5 Signs Someone You Love Is Treating You Poorly

            1. You’re being taken for granted

You might not notice right away that this is the case. But consider how much you’re doing for your partner versus what they do for you. Is your relationship equal? Sometimes we have to take on more responsibility in our relationships, but the point is to do so in order to help our partners. But if you find that you’re constantly doing things for your partner and can’t seem to remember the last time they did something for you, you might just be getting taken advantage of.

We wouldn’t wash ourselves with dirt and expect to be clean. We also wouldn’t bang our head against a wall in attempt to cure a headache. So, why do any of us invest in relationships that deplete our energy and self-worth?” says Kimberly Keys, author and past division president of the American Counseling Association.

In order to turn this around, you’ll want to sit with your partner and have a serious discussion about the equality of your partnership. Your partner may not be aware they’re taking advantage of you because you’re always willing to help them when they need it.

            2. Your partner doesn’t respect you

If you find that your partner often talks over you or teases you in ways you don’t enjoy being teased, you may be facing a partner who doesn’t respect you. Other signs of lack of respect include your partner exhibiting passive aggressive behavior towards you.

Lack of respect can show up in many different forms. One is the lack of forward-moving actions. Others are verbal or emotional abuse, and passive-aggressive behavior. All of these forms of abusive behavior can be so subtle that it is hard to recognize it for what it is,” says professor of philosophy Berit Brogaard, D.M.Sci., Ph.D.

When these signs start to show up, it’s important to let your partner know that you demand a certain amount of respect in your relationship or it’s never going to work. If your partner refuses to move forward and work on their level of respect for you, it might be a good idea to let the relationship run its course. You deserve to have a partner who will respect you, the choices that you make, and the person that you are.

            3. Your partner oversteps your boundaries

Have you told your partner that certain things bother you, and you would prefer that they didn’t do those things to or around you? I’m sure many of us have had those kinds of discussions. Most adult relationships do! However, if you find that your partner is constantly crossing your boundaries when it comes to the things that you would prefer not to happen, then this is a big sign that your partner is treating your poorly.

Your boundaries should be firm, and your partner should always respect them. If this happens, it’s time to have a serious talk with your partner about your boundaries, and how it makes you feel when they get crossed. If they can’t respect your boundaries, then it’s definitely time to find a partner who can.

When couples are clear about the boundaries for their own relationship, what the rules, goals, and expectations are, the relationship can be stable,” says clinical psychologist Ryan Howes.

            4. Your partner doesn’t meet your emotional or physical needs

A sign that your partner is treating you poorly is their inability to meet your needs, whether those needs be physical or emotional. Your partner may be very sweet, but your sex life could be extremely lacking. Or, your relationship may be all about sex and you’re not getting your emotional needs met. Your partner might be entirely focused on themselves in either area, which leaves you without the type of emotional or physical support that you need from them.

Loving relationships are a process by which we get our needs met and meet the needs of our partners too… When it is not, then things turn sour, and the relationship ends,” says psychologist and dating expert Jeremy Nicholson.

Going to a counselor may be a way to get your relationship back on track, especially if you both feel that it’s something you want to keep pursuing.

            5. Your partner doesn’t take interest in how you’re feeling

You may notice that you’re the one who always asks how your partner is doing, if they need anything, and how they’re feeling. If your partner doesn’t seem to be able to do the same for you, it’s a sign that your partner is treating you poorly and you’re not getting what you need out of the relationship.

Maybe your partner just never considers that they have to ask to get an answer, or maybe they’re in a very stressful time in their life that makes them a bit inconsiderate. Whatever the reason, making sure your partner knows a relationship is a two-way street may be the way to get this type of behavior to turn itself around.

            Final thoughts

It doesn’t feel good to be treated poorly by your partner, especially if it’s something neither of you can control. Sometimes, life gets in the way and we stop putting our best foot forward in our relationships. It happens! But, you should always know that it’s your right to demand to be treated fairly and with respect. If your partner loves you and wants to do what’s best, they will turn their behavior around. If not, you can always find someone who will treat you the way you deserve.

Experts Explain 10 Ways Your Self-Esteem Affects Your Relationship

            22448105_10154933111682371_2398669754604280172_n

“Self-esteem is as important to our well-being as legs are to a table. It is essential for physical and mental health and for happiness.” – Louise Hart

Ask yourself honestly: how do you feel about yourself? Could your self-esteem be a little better? All of us struggle with self-esteem issues every once in a while. Unfortunately, some of us have it worse than others when it comes to having low self-esteem. You may feel like your self-esteem only affects you.

After all, it is called self-esteem! But the fact of the matter is, your self-esteem can affect your relationships with other people.

Low self-esteem can make you test or sabotage relationships that have potential, or settle for relationships in which you’re treated in a way that matches your beliefs about yourself,” says clinical psychologist Suzanne Lachmann, Psy.D.

However, there are ways to turn it around. If you’re feeling like your low self-esteem could be affecting your relationships, check the signs and see how to turn it around.

10 Ways Your Self-Esteem Destroys Your Relationship And How To Avoid It

            1. You start having limited relationships

When you have low self-esteem, you’re not very confident. This can make it harder for you to approach other people, and for other people to approach you. What happens then?

You’re willing to commit yourself to the person who expresses interest in you. You become much less discriminating about who you choose. You may even be willing to put up with behavior that doesn’t satisfy you, because you feel lucky to have anyone at all, even though you are aware you are not happy,” adds Dr. Lachmann.

When you work on feeling better about yourself and having more confidence, your relationships will branch out. You’ll have more friends and work relationships, as well as romantic ones.

            2. You suffer from lack of confidence

The lack of confidence when it comes to low-self-esteem means that you may allow people to walk all over you. You’re not confident enough to assert your boundaries and “you will be unable to ask for what you want or set limits on what you don’t want,” adds relationship coach Deborah Roth.

Learning better communication skills will help turn your confidence around. When your confidence is better, so is your self-esteem. Then, you’ll be able to have relationships with other people without feeling as if you’re being taken advantage of.

            3. Self-expression becomes a challenge

When you have low self-esteem, you may have a harder time expressing yourself. When you’re not able to say the things you want to say, and be truthful about your thoughts and feelings, your relationships suffer. Learn how to better express your thoughts and feelings, even if you have to take baby steps to do it. Writing letters or emails can help bolster your confidence in saying what you mean.

            4. You’re constantly taken for granted

When you have low self-esteem, people tend to take you for granted. This is because your low self-esteem makes it harder for you to stand up for yourself. Learn how to say “No” and assert your boundaries. It may take some effort, but in the long run you’ll be able to avoid the bad and abusive relationships with people who are looking for someone with low self-esteem to control.

            5. Not enough energy into your relationships

When you have low self-esteem, it may cause you to make mistakes in your relationships. One of these mistakes is not putting enough energy or effort into your relationship, because you feel like it doesn’t matter anyway.

You may take on a victim mentality. This means you will blame everyone and everything for how you feel. You will not be able to relate to others well because you will act like a victim rather than an equal,” says life coach Karl Perera.

Learning to build up your self-esteem means that you’ll be able to put the same time and energy into relationships that you deserve to get back. Sometimes, just putting in the effort will help bolster your self-esteem.

            6. You have low self-acceptance

Having low self-esteem means that you also have low self-acceptance. If you’re unable to accept yourself, then you won’t be able to be accepted in your relationships, either. Learn to accept your flaws and shortcomings, instead of beating yourself up for things that you can’t control. When you learn to let go, you can learn to accept yourself for who you are.

            7. Perception is a mind game

What you believe to be true is often what you perceive. Low self-esteem can make your perception of the world around you way off. If you feel poorly about yourself, you may start to believe other people feel poorly about you as well. Learn to accept what the people around you say, and believe them for what it’s worth. If someone tells you they like you, learn to believe them.

            8. Misunderstandings arise in relationships

When you lack self-esteem, you lack confidence, and without confidence, you may be prone to more misunderstandings in your relationships. You may allow people to believe something that isn’t true because you lack the self-esteem to correct them.

It’s important in any relationship to be able to express what you need … If you don’t share those needs because you’re afraid of your partner’s response, you’ll become increasingly frustrated and [they’ll] just feel hurt or confused,” say Shirley McNeal, Ph.D, and relationship coach Nancy Philpott.

Building up your confidence will allow you to correct misunderstandings before they cause rifts in your relationships.

            9. Drama becomes inevitable

A lack of self-esteem can also cause drama in a relationship. Misunderstandings, hurt feelings, exhausting arguments … all of these things can stem from one’s low self-esteem. When you’re able to confront the source of the drama, the drama is more easily dealt with. When focusing on building your self-esteem, you’re also able to focus on making sure your relationships stay drama-free.

            10. Lack of fun

You may find that you don’t go out as often as you would like, or turn down invitations to have fun with your friends. Low self-esteem can make it so that you’re not having as much fun as you could. A good way to deal with this is to go anyway. Even if you’re feeling low, getting out and being around people who care about you can be a great help.

            Final thoughts

Low self-esteem can be frustrating for anyone to deal with. You may not notice at first, but your relationships can suffer when it comes to low self-esteem. It may even be something that can end a relationship altogether.

Bolstering your self-esteem will make dealing with it easier, as well as repairing your relationships. Talking to a trusted friend, family member or therapist can also help put your self-esteem back on the right track.

When you notice yourself thinking you’re not lovable, or that no one will ever find you attractive, you need to stop and talk back to yourself in a positive way. Tell yourself that the negative talk is not realistic, but just a distortion, says social psychologist Heidi Riggio, PhD.

Opening up to people can be just the thing you need to work through whatever it is that’s keeping your self-esteem low, and bring it back up so you can enjoy and experience life.

Pregnant Mom ‘s Womb Exploded With Baby Inside While She Thought She Has ‘Bad Heartburn’ For 10 Days

            PAY-Miracle-baby-mums-womb-explodes-1

Matt Gaylor 40 and Claire Gaylor 37, were the parents of two daughters. After the birth of their second daughter, Claire was diagnosed with Asherman’s Syndrome. Asherman’s syndrome is a uterine disorder that causes scar tissue on the womb. This syndrome can cause miscarriages, uterus pain, infertility and other obstetric complications like endometritis.

The doctors clearly told Matt and Claire, that it would be impossible for them to conceive another baby in the future.

Surprisingly, the couple was left astounded after knowing they were pregnant with a third baby, and this time a boy in 2013. Although, the couple had no bound to their happiness they were slightly scared for the well-being of their son and the effects that Asherman syndrome would have on their unborn child.

Everything in Claire’s pregnancy was going smoothly until the 28th week when she began feeling severe pain above her belly. When rushed to the emergency, Claire was treated by the doctors only for heartburn and was treated with oral morphine to numb the pain.

10 days later when Claire did not get any better and her symptoms worsen, the doctors realized her horrendous diagnosis.

This time she was rushed to the delivery suite. Caire says, ” I felt like my womb was about to burst.” Claire had placenta percreta a fatal condition in which the placenta grows too deeply inside the womb muscle. In layman words, her placenta was tearing apart her womb muscles and bursting with the baby inside her.

The doctor immediately carried out an emergency cesarean. However, due to immense pain, Claire fell into a coma for 10 days and when she woke up, she was no longer pregnant with her baby.

Claire and Matt’s son Cody was born at 30 weeks and had to be resuscitated twice after his birth for swallowing blood which had collected in his mother’s womb.

In an interview, Claire said, “At one point the doctors told Matt to bid his last goodbyes to me and Cody. However, now she feels really lucky that both Cody and herself survived the life-threatening condition.

Back at the hospital, Claire required six blood transfusions after suffering internal bleeding due to the rupture inside the womb. The doctors had to perform an emergency hysterectomy to save both hers and her son’s life. The doctors were surprised at the recovery and her medical records are now being used to teach new doctors on how to deal with such fatal conditions.

Despite only weighing 3lb and 4oz at the time of birth, Cody is now 19 months old and a happy healthy baby, reaching new heights in life.

Placenta precreta is a fatal condition causing 7% death rate and the main cause for maternal hemorrhage. Later this year, Gina Walker founded a Hope For Accreta Foundation to raise awareness and funds for the condition. The foundation conducts charitable research and workshops for women with this syndrome.
