TV Ratings: 'Better Late Than Never' Returns to NBC-Dominant Monday

The reality show wins its time slot, though slipping from its surprise 2016 summer run.

NBC topped Monday with a steady episode of The Voice and the return of senior travelogue Better Late Than Never.

The Voice led the night by all measures, thanks in part to ABC's The Good Doctor heading into hiatus, with an average 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 10.4 million viewers.

Better Late Than Never topped its own competition at 10 o'clock, but the reality show (which debuted out of the 2016 Summer Olympics and surprised many with its strong and sustained four-episode run) was diminished in its return. It fell half of a ratings point, netting a 1.1 in the key demo for the hour.

ABC's early scores are tentative, on account of its preemptions in Boston and Miami for Monday Night Football. So more than a few of those currently credited with watching The Great Christmas Light Fight are likely Patriots fans. The network will probably still keep its No. 2 status for the night, edging past CBS comedies.

Speaking of CBS, Kevin Can Wait (1.1 adults), Man With a Plan (1.0 adults), Superior Donuts (0.9 adults), 9JKL (0.7 adults) and Scorpion (0.9 adults) all held steady. Same goes for Lucifer and The Gifted, both averaging a 0.8 rating in the key demo on Fox.

The CW aired a new Valor, which pulled a 0.2 rating in the demo.
