'Happy!' Renewed for Season 2 at Syfy

'Happy!'

The network has picked up the Christopher Meloni drama ahead of the show's season finale on Wednesday.

Syfy is sticking with Happy!

The cable network has ordered a second season of the drama, which stars Christopher Meloni and features the voice of Patton Oswalt. The cabler's adaptation of Grant Morrison's best-selling graphic novel is set to air its season finale on Wednesday.

Happy! struck a chord with our Syfy audience and disrupted the TV landscape with its unique storytelling and outrageous performances led by Christopher Meloni,” Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, said Monday in a statement. “If people thought this season was crazy — I can’t wait for fans to see what Grant Morrison, Brian Taylor and the entire cast and crew have in store for Sax and Happy!”

Happy! follows Nick Sax (Meloni), an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. Once a rock-star detective for a major metropolitan police force, Nick lost it all. Now he's a broken, down-and-out hired killer that makes just enough money to support a steady diet of booze, drugs and sarcasm by carrying out hits for the mob. After a job gone wrong, Nick's life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue-winged horse.

Morrison and Brian Taylor, who adapted Happy! for the small screen, executive produce the Universal Cable Productions series alongside Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Toby Jaffe of Original Film (The Fast and the Furious) and showrunner Patrick Macmanus.
