TV Ratings: Pyeongchang Builds Again; Olympics Trailing 2014 by 7 Percent, All Told
'The Bachelor' builds in its second Monday against the games.
The Pyeongchang Olympics forged Monday night, featuring women’s freestyle skiing and a lot of ice dance.
The coverage saw NBC's and NBC Sports Network's combined coverage tick up for the second night in a row, netting an average 12.6 overnight rating among households. It was the best showing since the three-night string of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — each of which averaged roughly a 13.0 rating.
U.S. men's hockey toppled Slovakia on NBC Sports Network, earning a 1.52 rating for the cable channel.
Through Sunday, Feb. 18, Pyeongchang averaged a total 21.3 primetime viewers with all NBC vehicles tallied. Compared with the Sochi Winter Games, which aired in 2014, Pyeongchang's loss stands at 7 percent. If you look just at the linear tune-in on the broadcast network, losses more than double. NBC-only viewership is down by 16 percent.
ABC's The Bachelor improved slightly from its first Monday against the Olympics, pulling a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.2 million viewers in Fast Affiliate ratings. CBS' celebrity edition of Big Brother fetched a 1.2 rating in the key demo, flat with its last episode.
The night's only other counterprogramming came from the CW, which aired a new episode of Legends of Tomorrow (0.4 adults).
