The former BuzzFeed development partner will co-star as Ruby in 'The End of the World as We Know It.'

The CW is going into business with one of BuzzFeed's biggest stars.

The network has tapped comedian Quinta Brunson to co-star in dramedy pilot The End of the World as We Know It.

Based on the book by Iva-Marie Palmer, The End of the World as We Know It explores what happens when a prison spaceship carrying the universe's most deadly aliens crashes in Southern California. Two women with bigger dreams than working at a kids' pizza place in the Valley are recruited to hunt down the escaped criminals, who have camouflaged themselves as eccentric Angelenos.

Brunson will star as Ruby, one-half of the criminal-finding duo, who is a hyper-intelligent, upbeat MIT graduate that hasn't been able to hold down an engineering job due to her interests shifting a mile a minute. She's working at her parents' birthday party place and pizza restaurant for kids, but with the arrival of the crashed spaceship, Ruby may have finally found her mission. Gage Golightly (Red Oaks) is already set as Ruby's friend Kate, a struggling actress who is unable to catch a break.

Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker (Powerless, iZombie) wrote the script and also will serve as executive producers on the project alongside Rob Thomas, Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge, Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. Ehsugadee Productions, Spondoolie Productions and Alloy Entertainment are producing in association with Warner Bros. Television.

The End of the World as We Know It marks Brunson's first network pilot casting after years producing viral online videos. The comedian rose to internet fame with her video "The Girls Who's Never Been on a Nice Date" and parlayed that success into a full-time gig as one of BuzzFeed's development partners, where she developed such projects as YouTube Red series Broke, go90's Up for Adoption and Facebook Watch's Quinta vs. Everything.

Brunson, who continues to freelance for BuzzFeed following the expiration of her two-year deal with the digital publisher, is repped by ICM Partners, Coakley PR, Foundry Media, AltView Law Group and Adam Segal at Generate.
