A day after staging an Originals reunion, The CW's Roswell reboot is setting up a fun Vampire Diaries one, too.

The Vampire Diaries favorite Michael Trevino has joined the cast of the network's drama pilot, reuniting with former showrunner Julie Plec on the project.

Based on the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz, the pilot revolves around the daughter (Grey's Anatomy's Jeanine Mason) of undocumented immigrants who, after reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush, who is now a police officer: He’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

Trevino will take on the role of Kyle Valenti, the popular son of the town sheriff who questions his carefree outlook on life after learning the terrifying truth of his family’s legacy. Nick Wechsler played the role in the original series.

Carina Adly MacKenzie (The Originals) penned the pilot and executive produces alongside Amblin's Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Lawrence Bender and Kevin Kelly Brown, with the latter having served in the same capacity on the original. Plec will also exec produce and direct the Warner Bros. Television drama.

Trevino was an original Vampire cast member, playing the regular role of Tyler Lockwood for the first six seasons (and recurring for its final two) and appearing in two episodes of spinoff The Originals as part of a crossover. His credits also include Cane and feature The Factory. He's repped by Greene and Associates, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Jackoway Tyerman.

Trevino joins a cast that also includes The Originals' Nathan Parsons, Tyler Blackburn (Pretty Little Liars), Lily Cowles (BrainDead), Michael Vlamis (New Girl) and Heather Hemmens (Hellcats).
