The 'Limitless' grad will play Murphy's son, as the CBS comedy has also cast Nik Dodani.

CBS' Murphy Brown revival has just cast a key player.

Limitless grad Jake McDorman has been tapped to play Candice Bergen's son in the network's 13-episode, straight-to-series comedy.

McDorman will play Avery, Murphy's (Bergen) journalist son who is following in his mother's footsteps, perhaps too closely, and has his mother's competitive spirit and quick wit. Also cast in the revival is Nik Dodani (Atypical) as Pat, the director of social media for the news show, who is tasked with bringing Murphy and the gang into the 21st century.

McDorman and Dodani join original series stars Bergen, Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto and Grant Shaud, with the latter four set to reprise their roles.

Series creator Diane English will return as writer/exec producer. Bergen will also exec produce the Warner Bros. Television revival.

McDorman will return to CBS with Murphy Brown after starring in the network's Limitless reboot a few seasons ago. Repped by UTA and Mosaic, his credits also include Lady Bird. Dodani is with Buchwald and Authentic Talent and Literary.
